The better to hear you with, my dear

I have one ear that is a full 1/2 inch bigger than the other. It's true. And I went most of my life completely oblivious to my deformity. I only discovered it 2 years ago when I was cutting my own hair and using my ears and shoulders as points of reference. When my hair kept coming up uneven, I saw it -- my ridiculously large ear. And suddenly it made sense that I parted my hair on the left side. And that I didn't like wearing pony tails or hats. And that I always have to hold the phone on the right side, or I can't quite hear as well. In fact, I hear SO much better out of my giant ear. If I look at it that way, maybe it's a gift. Maybe the other ear is just too small... I've decided to embrace it. Also, to have sweeping bangs that mask its size. None of this really means anything. I just made a deal with my sister that we would write in our blogs everyday. Something small. Today was about my ear. Which is not small. And that's OK.
